About the Event
Autumn changes everything at Fforest Fields. The hedgerows swell with berries, the fields breathe damp and sweet, and the woods carry the scent of rain and fallen leaves. This Friday Club session follows forager Gavin Ireland of Found Food on a steady two-hour walk through this turning season.
The focus is simple: seeing what’s really there. Each stop reveals something new; a spray of hawthorn, the shine of rosehips, the fine cut of yarrow, the soft growth of fungi on birch. Gavin shares clear, grounded knowledge on how to identify edible species and avoid their look-alikes, along with stories about how people have used these plants for food, medicine, and craft through the years.
The walk moves easily between field edges and woodland, with time to pause, ask questions. No rush, no foraging lists, just a calm, practical look at the living landscape and how to read it with confidence.
